What is CMT Production?
CMT is short for Cut, Make and Trim. It’s a common term for general sewing production services.
We will cut your fabric using the provided pattern, we will make the garment up to your specifications. And we will press, inspect and package your garments.
Whilst this doesn’t include pattern cutting, toile fitting or sample making; we can provide those services too, if you need them. But if you’re just looking to get your garments made and ready to ship then our CMT service is what you are looking for.
Our production sewing service (CMT Production) is ideal for anyone requiring multiples of the same garments. Boutique shops, independent designers, online stores or even just team uniforms. If you’re looking for a local company to produce your garments, we will be delighted to help you every step of the way. If you’re not sure what you need, please have a look around the website, or get in touch.
What's your minimum Order?
We specialize in small runs. It’s what makes our products such high quality. We can make just one item. Although this will be classed as a Sample (please visit our Sample Garment Service page for more information).
For CMT production, we ask for an order of 5 items or more.
What qualifies as a production run
We as for a few things before we class the garment as a production run:
- Make 5 or more garments of the same style.
- All garments must be made of the same fabric.
- All garments must be of the same colour.
- All the fastenings/decorative finishes must be the same.
How much will it cost to have my garments made?
Sadly we can’t tell you straight off how much it will cost. There are lots of things to take in to consideration.
The first thing we need to do is make a sample garment. You may have already had a sample made by another company or sample maker, this is OK, we will ask you to allow us to borrow this to use as a visual guide for our team. We need to make our own sample to find out how long each step of the production process will take. This also gives us the chance to check the patterns for any possible errors if you’ve had them done by another pattern maker. And of course we want to ensure you are delighted with the end result.
Samples do cost more than a production run. However, once we know the ins and outs of your garments design details, we’ll be able to give you an accurate price.
Please be aware that we cannot provide a quote without doing a sample (or trial run) first. If we did the quote would not be accurate.
Once we have worked out the final figure for a sample garment, from there we can assess the production costs for multiple items. Production discounts start at 5% per piece and go up to 40% less than the sampling price.
What will I need to Provide for CMT Sewing Production?
First of all we’ll need a tech pack. If you don’t have one, or aren’t sure what you need to include, we can help guide you through the process. Or if we’ve been with you from the design stage, don’t worry, as we’ll have done this with you.
We will need your patterns. Again we can also provide a pattern cutting service. But we’re happy to use ones you’ve had created elsewhere (although we will need to check them for accuracy, and error corrections will be chargeable). If you are wishing to make multiple sized garments, we’ll need your graded patterns (we can also provide this service if you haven’t had them graded yet).
We will need your fabric, fastenings and decorations. Ideally you’ll already know approximately how much fabric etc is required for each garment. We’ll be able to give you an accurate amount when we convert the patterns into makers. If you’re not sure, again we are more than happy to help.
Whilst we don’t provide a fabric sourcing service at the present time, we are happy to put you in touch with some of our contacts for certain types of fabrics.
Clothing labels. You will need to provide your labels. We can help with sourcing these if you don’t already have your own brand labels. We are also able to provided you with wash care labels, please ask for details if you require this service.
And lastly packaging materials. We are happy to fold, bag, hang etc the garments for you, so please provide any packaging/hangers that you wish to use.
What is your turn around time?
The time it takes us to complete your garments and send them back to you will depend on a few factors.
- First are the patterns production ready? If not we have to allow additional time for this.
- The complexity and finishing details of the garments e.g. a pair of skinny jeans is much quicker to make than a highly beaded evening gown.
- The time of year. Yes, even the seasons can slow down production a bit. Our busiest times are May to August for the summer Prom and Bridal seasons, so please take this in to account if you are placing a large order during the summer.
- The size of the order, it’s going to take longer to make 200 than it is 5 of something, so please plan ahead if you need a lot of stock making up for a particular date.
The best thing is to come in and have a chat with us. If you have a particularly short deadline we may be able to help, but it will be dependent on our current work load. So book in for a visit and we’ll be able to evaluate what can be done in your time scale.
